Pearl signifies wisdom, learning, creativity, perseverance, and purity.
The old stories have it that God himself, in the form of Lord Shiva, wept over seeing the plight of humanity mired in materialism. A single tear fell to the earth and from this sprouted the first Rudraksha Tree, a sign of His compassion. The seeds are said to be sacred, and to contain many beneficial powers. Seeds of the Rudraksha tree have been used in malas since ancient times, adorning sages and saints seeking enlightenment and liberation.
The mala has 108 beads with counter beads every 12.
